Bargaining Update #4: We Want Our 4%

At the Sept. 27 negotiation session, management stuck to a proposal it had floated at a previous session to give employees a two percent COLA and one-time bonus payment of 2%, with the possibility of another 2% COLA next year, if employees help JHS earn more money on efficiencies. The bargaining team expressed support for continuing to help Jackson get safer and more efficient, but stood firm on our position of demanding no less than a 4% COLA – the same as other county unions.

Bargaining Update #2: Union Proposes 4% COLA, Management Suggests Bonus Instead

SEIU Local 1991 and AFSCME put on the bargaining table a proposal for a 4% Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) at Monday’s negotiation session. Jackson unions have always mirrored the same COLA as the other Miami-Dade County unions and those unions have already agreed to a 4% COLA for 2017. Management indicated would like to discuss a bonus model, but said they weren’t ready to discuss specifics.
