Police and firefighters held a press conference on Wednesday, Sept. 12th, outside Ryder Trauma Center to oppose plans to privatize Jackson’s Emergency Room services and Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center. “We don’t serve bankers, we don’t serve lobbyists, we serve patients,” City of Miami firefighter Troy Sutton said. “Don’t allow big money to privatize our public hospital or patients will suffer.”

Staffing Ratios Meeting A Success!
Several SEIU Local 1991 nurses gave well-articulated and passionate testimonies before Jackson’s nursing leadership on July 12th about the need for a safe staffing ratios policy in Jackson’s Med/Surg units and the South Wing 7 mini-unit at Jackson Main.

Grievance Filed on Jackson Layoffs — We Need Your Input!
We have filed major grievances in regards to the most recent layoffs at Jackson Health System. There will be a grievance hearing on Tuesday, June 19th, and it will most likely proceed to arbitration.
