Happy Women’s History Month!

SEIU 1991 stands proud of our unwavering commitment to women’s rights. As we enter Women’s History Month, we underscore the importance of reinforcing our advocacy and action for protecting women’s rights.

Women’s History Month is a necessary time to remind everyone of the achievements of women throughout the years in our culture and society. From science and medicine to education and politics, it is a chance to reflect on the trailblazing women who lead the way for change.

  • 1916 – The National Woman’s Party (NWP), dedicated to getting women the right to vote, was formed.
  • 1972 – The Equal Rights Amendment, designed to guarantee protection against sexual discrimination for women, passed both houses of Congress.

As we reflect on some of the major milestones accomplished by women despite being oppressed throughout history, we should all be proud to support and commend their successes and achievements this month, every month, and throughout the year.
