SEIU 1991 Members Make Amazing Presentations of the Work We Do Every Day.

Our union had an impressive bargaining session with Management yesterday, July 18th. As most of you know, we have two issues on the table- The COLA and staffing ratios.

In June, we proposed a 5% across-the-board COLA and enhanced ratios in the ED (ADULT AND PEDI), IMCU, and MED-SURG floors.

We are all very proud of the research and the heartfelt deliveries that took us on a “walk in the shoes” of a Jackson nurse. The message was clear: Our nurses are committed to caring for the highest-acuity patients and are incredibly proud of the care we deliver at Jackson. Their dedication to JHS is unwavering. It is clear that Jackson is every other hospitals’ hospital. Our nurses care for the sickest of the sick, and we want to stand up for these patients who deserve the best care.

A special thank you to our presenters: Andrew Miller, ANM, Jackson West ED, Charmaine Salmon, ANM, Pedi ED, Kathleen Ade, PRM CSN, Jackson North ED, Lashonia Joyner, CSN, Jackson North ED, Yasmine Perez, CSN, SW8, Monica Suarez, Jackson Main Nurse Educator, Adriana Machado, CSN, SW8, Marie Lizima, CSN, SW6 Palliative Care, and Caitlin MacLaren, CSN, WW15 Transplant.

Here are links to each of the presentations: ED Presentation, IMCU Presentation, MED SURG Presentation, Transplant Presentation.

Our next bargaining session is on Wednesday, August 28th. This session is crucial as Management has committed to responding to our proposals.

Thank you to everyone who packed the room! Your presence, whether in person or on Zoom, was a powerful demonstration of our unity and commitment. Let’s show up again in August!
