  1. The US Caribbean Strong Relief Fund previously established at The Miami Foundation is currently taking donations.

2. The Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) is taking monetary donations, supplies and also accepting volunteers at the GEM Warehouse in Doral to assemble family necessity kits.

3. Food For The Poor, a leading Jamaican founded non-profit in Coconut Creek, is accepting monetary donations and essential supplies. Supplies such as hygiene items, diapers for children and adults, tarps, blankets, water boots, children’s school and art supplies, and feminine hygiene products can be dropped off at their Coconut Creek address.

Alternatively, you can donate urgently needed items through their Amazon Relief List — these supplies are shipped directly to their warehouse for immediate distribution.

4. American Friends of Jamaica started a $1 Million Matching fund where you can donate to here: https://theafj.org/

5. World Central Kitchen is working with Jamaican chefs and restaurants to prepare meals for those impacted in Jamaica. Donate here: https://www.wck.org/en-us/relief/melissa-25

6. The Government of Jamaica created an emergency response agency platform where they’re accepting monetary donations and share a list of immediate needs. Check it out here: https://www.supportjamaica.gov.jm/

7. Direct Relief will support health facilities, many of which it says are in coastal and low-lying areas vulnerable to flooding and power outages. The group also sent 100 field-medic packs for Jamaica’s National Health Fund, and is working with the Pan American Health Organization on supplies for Cuba.

The group is accepting cash donations. All contributions specifically designated for “Hurricane Melissa” will go directly to those efforts.
