On Feb. 13, the SEIU Local 1991 bargaining team hammered out big wins for the nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals at Jackson. In essence:
- JHS agreed to stop taking the 5% healthcare concession retroactive to Jan. 19, 2014.
- JHS also agreed to a one-time 2% gain-sharing payment in recognition of the efficiencies we have created in bringing Jackson back into the black.

Ratification meetings are scheduled for Feb. 18-20 for bargaining unit members to approve both the gain-sharing agreement and the agreement to stop the 5% as of January 19, 2014.
Didn’t we just do this?
Yes, the bargaining units voted overwhelmingly in January to approve agreements to phase out the 5% and accept a 3% gain-sharing payment.
But, then the County Commission unexpectedly approved returning the full 5% in January. Meanwhile, the PHT balked at approving a full 3% gain-sharing payment.
During bargaining on Feb. 13, management withdrew the 3% agreement and both sides signed a tentative agreement for a 2% gain-sharing payment.
The agreements must be ratified by the members of the bargaining units, the PHT and the County Commission.
