The County Commission meets today to discuss the budget proposed by Mayor Carlos Gimenez.
That budget includes major cuts in services such as police, libraries, parks and funding for community organizations.
Gimenez has claimed that he doesn’t like his own budget, but if county workers don’t agree to give up major concessions, he just can’t balance the books.
Just as with the 5% fight, Gimenez blames the hard-working employees for not giving enough, even while he looks for ways to give lobbyists, corporations and billionaire-owned sports teams more.
Your Local 1991 team will be on the ground tomorrow, reporting in on the latest developments and supporting our brothers and sisters in the county departments most targeted by Gimenez.
