QNCD Update June 2015

Local 1991’s QNCD team met June 26 to comb through staffing and hiring data provided by management.

Then the team met with management from Holtz Women and Children’s and JMH to go through the specifics, asking targeted questions and offering suggestions.

Challenges identified included recruiting for hard to fill positions, a roughly ten percent increase in patient census, and simply waiting for all the new hires to get through orientation and training so that they are up and running on the units.

“It’s sometimes hard to remember good work is going on when we don’t yet feel it on the floors,” noted President Martha Baker, RN. “I think everyone in this room can agree that better staffing is a strategy to get to better patient outcomes.”
