In Miami-Dade last week, county commissioners overwhelmingly passed an amendment to the Living Wage Ordinance that increases wages to offset rising health care costs for thousands of county contracted employees who will now have access to affordable healthcare for the first time in 15 years.
On Thursday, April 14, SEIU members and allies will support thousands of actions in cities across the country to raise awareness of the minimum wage issue.There are several actions planned throughout the day in Miami-Dade and Broward counties. There are strikes at local nursing homes, rallies, vigils and community forums.
