SEIU Local 1991 Elections of Officers and Executive Board Information

In accordance with the Constitution and Bylaws of Local 1991, SEIU, elections will be conducted October through December for the following offices:

President                   Treasurer

Vice President          Trustees (3)

Secretary                   Delegates (19)

Eligibility and Nominating Process

Nominations shall be made at any of the following membership meetings:  October 18 at Jackson North, 7:30-9:30 a.m. in Educational Classroom; October 20 at Jackson Main Campus, Rehab Auditorium, 7:30–9:00 a.m. and 12:00–1:30 p.m.; October 25 at Jackson South, 7:30–10:00 a.m.

Nominations may also be made by petition signed by 50 members in good standing.  Such petitions must be received at the Local 1991 Union office no later than 5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2016 by fax or in person. The Local Union fax number is (305) 620-1429.

  1. To be eligible to nominate a member for the Executive Board, you must be a member in good standing, i.e. current in dues
  2. To be eligible to run for the Executive Board you must be a member in good standing for at least two years immediately preceding the nomination and have, during all that time, paid the full dues required for the working members of the Local Union in the month they were due, unless the bargaining unit has been organized less than two years.
  3. To be eligible to vote, you must be a member in good standing. To vote, “Member in good standing” shall mean a person who has completed and submitted a Union membership application with appropriate dues to the Union office by 5:30 p.m. November 4th.To have his/her name placed on the ballot, all nominated candidates must complete and submit a candidate statement to the Union office.  Such submission may be in person at 1601 NW 8th Ave., Miami, FL, by 5:00 p.m. on October 31, 2016, or by fax (305) 620-1429 or by email, union@seiu1991.org by 5:00 p.m. on October 31st, 2016.  Candidate statement forms are available at membership meetings and the Union Office.Balloting shall be by mail and all ballots shall be completed by December 7th, 2016.  Ballots shall be retrieved from the P.O. Box at 9:30 a.m. on December 7th, 2016.  Only ballots in the P.O. Box at that time will be counted.
