A team of SEIU Local 1991 members helped to make the holiday season a little brighter for area children by collecting and delivering bags full of toys that were donated by hundreds of our members. The donation was given to a non-profit organization called Unidos Por Amor for their 9th annual Christmas Party for children in need.
“I am so thrilled my union brothers and sisters were eager to help and donate so many wonderful toys,” said Shelley Pagan-Jones, RN at Jackson Health System. “Their generosity will surely put smiles on the faces of hundreds of disadvantaged children who truly deserve to have a happy holiday.”
Along with distributing toys, SEIU Local 1991 members helped to set up tables and assist with other preparations the day of the event. The children, including kids and their families from Puerto Rico and Venezuela, enjoyed music, games, food and a visit by Santa Claus.
