The contract hammered out over the last several weeks by the members of your Local 1991 bargaining team is one of the best we’ve ever had! This tentative agreement, which must still be ratified, is not only great for members – it’s making history. We negotiated unprecedented mandated staffing ratios with real teeth. We got steps turned back on and fixed issues of wage compression for hundreds of employees caught in the recession cut backs. And much more.

Slowly, but surely, progress is being made in bargaining for our 2014-2017 contract. The team will be slogging through the contracts in an all-day work session on Tuesday. On Wednesday, the bargaining team and management will be hopefully finding common ground on a series of issues we have laid out in previous sessions. All members are welcome and encouraged to stop by on breaks to check our progress and support the team!

In the fourth bargaining session for the 2014-2017 contract, Local 1991 made several proposals, including full restoration of steps and all other concessions and a 2% COLA in each year of the contract. Management’s proposal would fall far short of that goal.
