A team of Local 1991 members and staff joined hundreds of other South Floridians at Marlins Stadium for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. The event raises money for the American Cancer Society to help fund innovative research and raise awareness about the importance of early detection. It’s also a celebration of survivors and a time to remember loved-ones lost.
SEIU Local 1991 Vice President Vicki Gonzalez, RN, says she’s proud to be a part of a union that encourages and supports members who want to give back to their communities. “From selling pink ribbons at the Nurse Alliance conference to raise money in honor of a friend fighting breast cancer to participating in the Making Strides walk, our members often answer the call for help,” said Gonzalez. “Their generosity and compassion on the job and in their neighborhoods touch many lives.”

The SEIU Local 1991 team completed the three mile walk and crossed the finish line together. But their mission to fight breast cancer continues.
