SEIU Local 1991 and JHS Management have joined forces on an initiative aimed at boosting employee flu vaccination rates. The goal of the campaign is to protect both employees and the patients they serve. But this is not a mandate, this is a voluntary program that focuses on education and improving access so it’s easy and convenient for employees to get the flu shot.
The flu vaccine campaign kicked off in early October and already we’ve seen positive results. So far this season, more than 4,000 JHS employees have received the flu vaccine. That’s about 40%.—about 10% higher than in 2016—but still below our goal of a 70% employee vaccination rate by December 15th.
“The CDC recommends that all healthcare professionals get vaccinated to protect ourselves and to help prevent the spread of germs to patients,” said Dr. David Woolsey, MD ECC. “The more employees who get vaccinated, the better protected we all will be on the job and at home.”
Your union is truly committed to this campaign. That’s why we released Sam Ruiz, RN, full time to administer flu shots at union meetings to make it convenient for employees to get the shot. You can also call Sam at 954-605-5561 to schedule a time to get the vaccine.
There is also a calendar that includes a list of dates, times and locations where you can get it this month.
