“WSVN 7 Investigative reporters Karen Hensel and Daniel Cohen interviewed three South Florida women in an ongoing series called: “Living Nightmare.” This investigative series is dedicated to highlighting how many South Florida renters with good jobs are still struggling to keep a roof over their heads, in what is now one of the most unaffordable rental markets in in the U.S.

Our very own ICU nurse at Jackson South, Vanessa Jolibois, was among three women interviewed last month. Last year Vanessa’s rent increased from $1,600 to $2,700 a month. She now works overtime as she grapples with making her monthly rent payments. Many JHS employees find themselves in very similar situations to Vanessa and that is not okay.

We will continue to go back and forth with management at the bargaining table until they bring us a justifiable COLA and fair and equitable market adjustments everywhere they are needed.  We have put almost all of our proposals on the table.  It is time for management to reflect, crunch numbers, and come back to us with respectable proposals. Do not lose momentum as bargaining is only just beginning!”
