Florida Report – Week 4
Nearly halfway through the session, the Senate and House are divided on budget priorities. In a nutshell, the House wants huge tax cuts, the Senate wants to continue to fund necessary programs. Health care funding is the biggest stumbling block.

Labor and Management Partnership to Improve Staffing Ratios
The Quality Nursing and Career Development Committee launched its first meeting Feb. 20 to begin improving staffing ratios throughout the system. Local 1991 negotiated new nurse-to-patient staffing ratios in the 2014-2017 contract.

Get Ready for Political Season with COPE!
As New Year’s resolutions give way to Valentine’s Day, March Madness and April showers, so too the political season begins in Florida and Washington. Local 1991 members stay on top of the issues through our Committee on Political Education (COPE), which meets for lunch on every campus the second week of the month.
